Eugene Syromiatnikov 0590281823 doc/man1/openssl-enc.pod.in: document 'k' handling for -bufsize
Apparently, '-bufsize' option parser can handle the 'k' suffix
(and treat is as the value being provided in the multiples of 1024).
Document that.

Eugene Syromiatnikov 98cb959999 apps/enc.c: avoid signed integer overflow on bufsize assignment
The calculated option value, while being long-typed, is not checked
for fitting into int-sized bufsize. Avoid overflow by throwing error
if it is bigger than INT_MAX and document that behaviour.

If -ign_eof -or -quiet are passed to s_client this implicitly turns off
command processing (i.e. equivalent to -nocommands). This was stated on
the man page in the "CONNECTED COMMANDS" section, but not in the
documentation for "-ign_eof" or "-quiet" directly. We state it here as
well to make it clearer.

erbsland-dev 70140f7510 Add note for non-interactive use of `s_client`
Fixes #8018

Documented the potential issue of premature connection closure in
non-interactive environments, such as cron jobs, when using `s_client`.

Added guidance on using the `-ign_eof` option and input redirection to
ensure proper handling of `stdin` and completion of TLS session data exchange.

Highlight potential issues with the `-ign_eof` flag and provide solutions for
graceful disconnection in SMTP and HTTP/1.1 scenarios to avoid indefinite hangs.

Matt Caswell ce625bb5eb Improve the documentation on TLS record compression
TLS record compression is off by default. Even if you switch it on, it
cannot be used at security level 2 which is the default in OpenSSL 3.2 and
above. Update the docs to point this out.

Neil Horman 21f7a09ca2 Convert jdkTrustedKeyUsage to be a pkcs12 cmd line option
Creating JDK compatible pkcs12 files requires a bit more than just
adding the Trusted Key Usage OID to a certbag in the pkcs12 file.
Additionally the JDK currently requires that pkcs12 files setting this
oid _not_ contain any additional keys, and in response will produce
unpredictable results.

This could be solved by implying --nokeys when the pkcs12 utility is run
and the config option is set, but thatcould confuse users who didn't
specify nokeys on the command line. As such, remove the config file
setting for this feature, and replace it with a -jdktrust command line
option, that is documented to assert nokeys when a users specifies the
new command line option.

slontis e3994583a1 Added 'saltlen' option to the OpenSSL enc command line app.
This allows PBKDF2 to change the saltlen to something other than the
new default value of 16. Previously this app hardwired the salt length
to a maximum of 8 bytes. Non PBKDF2 mode uses EVP_BytesToKey()
internally, which is documented to only allow 8 bytes.
