Richard Levitte e077455e9e Stop raising ERR_R_MALLOC_FAILURE in most places
Since OPENSSL_malloc() and friends report ERR_R_MALLOC_FAILURE, and
at least handle the file name and line number they are called from,
there's no need to report ERR_R_MALLOC_FAILURE where they are called
directly, or when SSLfatal() and RLAYERfatal() is used, the reason
`ERR_R_MALLOC_FAILURE` is changed to `ERR_R_CRYPTO_LIB`.

There were a number of places where `ERR_R_MALLOC_FAILURE` was reported
even though it was a function from a different sub-system that was
called.  Those places are changed to report ERR_R_{lib}_LIB, where
{lib} is the name of that sub-system.
Some of them are tricky to get right, as we have a lot of functions
that belong in the ASN1 sub-system, and all the `sk_` calls or from
the CRYPTO sub-system.

Some extra adaptation was necessary where there were custom OPENSSL_malloc()
wrappers, and some bugs are fixed alongside these changes.

Richard Levitte dc010ca6ec CORE: Encure that cached fetches can be done per provider
This mostly entails passing around a provider pointer, and handling
queries that includes a pointer to a provider, where NULL means "any".

This also means that there's a need to pass the provider pointer, not
just down to the cache functions, but also be able to get it from
ossl_method_store_fetch().  To this end, that function's OSSL_PROVIDER
pointer argument is modified to be a pointer reference, so the
function can answer back what provider the method comes from.

Test added.

Richard Levitte 839ffdd11c EVP: Allow a fallback for operations that work with an EVP_PKEY
Functions like EVP_PKEY_sign_init() do an implicit fetch of the
operation implementation (EVP_SIGNATURE in this case), then get the
KEYMGMT from the same provider, and tries to export the key there if
necessary.

If an export of the key isn't possible (because the provider that
holds the key is an HSM and therefore can't export), we would simply
fail without looking any further.

This change modifies the behaviour a bit by trying a second fetch of
the operation implementation, but specifically from the provider of
the EVP_PKEY that's being used.  This is done with the same properties
that were used with the initial operation implementation fetch, and
should therefore be safe, allowing only what those properties allow.

Added functions:

evp_keyexch_fetch_from_prov(), evp_kem_fetch_from_prov()

These are all like the public conterparts, except they all take a
provider instead of a library context as first argument.

Richard Levitte 5246183e7a EVP: Reverse the fetch logic in all pkey using functionality
In all initializing functions for functionality that use an EVP_PKEY, the
coded logic was to find an KEYMGMT implementation first, and then try to
find the operation method (for example, SIGNATURE implementation) in the
same provider.

This implies that in providers where there is a KEYMGMT implementation,
there must also be a SIGNATURE implementation, along with a KEYEXCH,
ASYM_CIPHER, etc implementation.

The intended design was, however, the opposite implication, i.e. that
where there is a SIGNATURE implementation, there must also be KEYMGMT.

This change reverses the logic of the code to be closer to the intended
design.

There is a consequence; we now use the query_operation_name function from
the KEYMGMT of the EVP_PKEY given by the EVP_PKEY_CTX (ultimately given by
the application).  Previously, we used the query_operation_name function
from the KEYMGMT found alongside the SIGNATURE implementation.

Another minor consequence is that the |keymgmt| field in EVP_PKEY_CTX
is now always a reference to the KEYMGMT of the |pkey| field if that
one is given (|pkey| isn't NULL) and is provided (|pkey->keymgmt|
isn't NULL).

Shane Lontis 7c14d0c1c0 Rename the field 'provctx and data' to 'algctx' inside some objects containing
pointers to provider size algorithm contexts.

Fixes #14284

The gettable_ctx_params methods were confusingly passing a 'provctx' and
a provider context which are completely different objects.
Some objects such as EVP_KDF used 'data' while others such as EVP_MD used 'provctx'.

For libcrypto this 'ctx' is an opaque ptr returned when a providers algorithm
implementation creates an internal context using a new_ctx() method.
Hence the new name 'algctx'.

Richard Levitte 0388823329 EVP: Add EVP_<TYPE>_description()
The following operation types are covered:

EVP_MD, EVP_CIPHER, EVP_MAC, EVP_RAND, EVP_KEYMGMT, EVP_SIGNATURE,
EVP_ASYM_CIPHER, EVP_KEM, EVP_KEYEXCH, EVP_KDF.  Also EVP_PKEY.

For EVP_MD and EVP_CIPHER, OBJ_nid2ln() is used as a fallback for
legacy implementations.

For EVP_PKEY, the info field of the EVP_PKEY_ASN1_METHOD is used as a
fallback for legacy implementations.

Shane Lontis e454a3934c Add a range check (from SP800-56Ar3) to DH key derivation.
Fixes #14401

Note that this moves the public key check out of DH compute_key() since
key validation does not belong inside this primitive..
The check has been moved to the EVP_PKEY_derive_set_peer() function so that
it generally applies to all exchange operations.. Use EVP_PKEY_derive_set_peer_ex()
to disable this behaviour.

Matt Caswell 19ad1e9d37 Remove a TODO(3.0) from EVP_PKEY_derive_set_peer()
The TODO described a case where a legacy derive operation is called, but
the peer key is provider based. In practice this will almost never be a
problem. We should never end up in our own legacy EVP_PKEY_METHOD
implementations if no ENGINE has been configured. If an ENGINE has been
configured then we we will be using a third party EVP_PKEY_METHOD
implementation and public APIs will be used to obtain the key data from the
peer key so there will be no "reaching inside" the pkey.

There is a theoretical case where a third party ENGINE wraps our own
internal EVP_PKEY_METHODs using EVP_PKEY_meth_find() or
EVP_PKEY_meth_get0(). For these cases we just ensure all our
EVP_PKEY_METHODs never reach "inside" the implementation of a peer key. We
can never assume that it is a legacy key.

Matt Caswell d84f5515fa Don't hold a lock when calling a callback in ossl_namemap_doall_names
We don't want to hold a read lock when calling a user supplied callback.
That callback could do anything so the risk of a deadlock is high.
Instead we collect all the names first inside the read lock, and then
subsequently call the user callback outside the read lock.

Dr. Matthias St. Pierre b425001010 Rename OPENSSL_CTX prefix to OSSL_LIB_CTX
Many of the new types introduced by OpenSSL 3.0 have an OSSL_ prefix,
e.g., OSSL_CALLBACK, OSSL_PARAM, OSSL_ALGORITHM, OSSL_SERIALIZER.

The OPENSSL_CTX type stands out a little by using a different prefix.
For consistency reasons, this type is renamed to OSSL_LIB_CTX.

Richard Levitte f21c9c64f5 EVP: use evp_pkey_ctx_is_legacy() to find what implementation to use
We've had explicit checks for when to fall back to legacy code for
operations that use an EVP_PKEY.  Unfortunately, the checks were
radically different in different spots, so we refactor that into a
macro that gets used everywhere.

Matt Caswell ac2d58c72b Implement a EVP_PKEY KDF to KDF provider bridge
Some KDF implementations were available before the current EVP_KDF API.
They were used via EVP_PKEY_derive. There exists a bridge between the old
API and the EVP_KDF API however this bridge itself uses a legacy
EVP_PKEY_METHOD. This commit implements a provider side bridge without
having to use any legacy code.

Dr. Matthias St. Pierre 363b1e5dae Make the naming scheme for dispatched functions more consistent
The new naming scheme consistently usese the `OSSL_FUNC_` prefix for all
functions which are dispatched between the core and providers.

This change includes in particular all up- and downcalls, i.e., the
dispatched functions passed from core to provider and vice versa.

- OSSL_core_  -> OSSL_FUNC_core_
- OSSL_provider_ -> OSSL_FUNC_core_

For operations and their function dispatch tables, the following convention
is used:

Richard Levitte c7fa92979c EVP: when setting the operation to EVP_PKEY_OP_UNDEFINED, clean up!
There were a few instances where we set the EVP_PKEY_CTX operation to
EVP_PKEY_OP_UNDEFINED, but forgot to clean up first.  After the
operation is made undefined, there's no way to know what should be
cleaned away, so that must be done first, in all spots.

Richard Levitte 4b9e90f42a EVP: fetch the EVP_KEYMGMT earlier
Instead of fetching the EVP_KEYMGMT in the init for every different
operation, do it when creating the EVP_PKEY_CTX.

This allows certain control functions to be called between the
creation of the EVP_PKEY_CTX and the call of the operation's init
function.

Use case: EVP_PKEY_CTX_set1_id(), which is allowed to be called very
early with the legacy implementation, this should still be allowed
with provider implementations.

Richard Levitte 3c6ed9555c Rethink the EVP_PKEY cache of provider side keys
The role of this cache was two-fold:

1.  It was a cache of key copies exported to providers with which an
    operation was initiated.
2.  If the EVP_PKEY didn't have a legacy key, item 0 of the cache was
    the corresponding provider side origin, while the rest was the
    actual cache.

This dual role for item 0 made the code a bit confusing, so we now
make a separate keymgmt / keydata pair outside of that cache, which is
the provider side "origin" key.

A hard rule is that an EVP_PKEY cannot hold a legacy "origin" and a
provider side "origin" at the same time.

Richard Levitte 3f7ce7f102 Refactor evp_pkey_make_provided() to do legacy to provider export
Previously, evp-keymgmt_util_export_to_provider() took care of all
kinds of exports of EVP_PKEYs to provider side keys, be it from its
legacy key or from another provider side key.  This works most of the
times, but there may be cases where the caller wants to be a bit more
in control of what sort of export happens when.

Also, when it's time to remove all legacy stuff, that job will be much
easier if we have a better separation between legacy support and
support of provided stuff, as far as we can take it.

This changes moves the support of legacy key to provider side key
export from evp-keymgmt_util_export_to_provider() to
evp_pkey_make_provided(), and makes sure the latter is called from all
EVP_PKEY functions that handle legacy stuff.

Richard Levitte b305452f69 Redesign the KEYMGMT libcrypto <-> provider interface - the basics
The KEYMGMT libcrypto <-> provider interface currently makes a few
assumptions:

1.  provider side domain parameters and key data isn't mutable. In
    other words, as soon as a key has been created in any (loaded,
    imported data, ...), it's set in stone.
2.  provider side domain parameters can be strictly separated from the
    key data.

This does work for the most part, but there are places where that's a
bit too rigid for the functionality that the EVP_PKEY API delivers.
Key data needs to be mutable to allow the flexibility that functions
like EVP_PKEY_copy_parameters promise, as well as to provide the
combinations of data that an EVP_PKEY is generally assumed to be able
to hold:

- domain parameters only
- public key only
- public key + private key
- domain parameters + public key
- domain parameters + public key + private key

To remedy all this, we:

1.  let go of the distinction between domain parameters and key
    material proper in the libcrypto <-> provider interface.

    As a consequence, functions that still need it gain a selection
    argument, which is a set of bits that indicate what parts of the
    key object are to be considered in a specific call.  This allows
    a reduction of very similar functions into one.

2.  Rework the libcrypto <-> provider interface so provider side key
    objects are created and destructed with a separate function, and
    get their data filled and extracted in through import and export.

(future work will see other key object constructors and other
functions to fill them with data)

the EVP functions.  Since their names are easily confused with the
functions that were moved to keymgmt_meth.c, we rename them so they
all start with evp_keymgmt_util_.

Richard Levitte 0b9dd3842f EVP: clear error when falling back from failed EVP_KEYMGMT_fetch()
Since we're falling back to legacy, this isn't an error any more.
Among others the failed EVP_KEYMGMT_fetch() error shadows other errors
produced by the legacy code, which disrupts our test/evp_test runs.

We use the error stack mark to restore the error stack just right,
i.e. ERR_set_mark(), ERR_clear_last_mark() and ERR_pop_to_mark()

Richard Levitte f6aa577412 EVP: Add evp_pkey_make_provided() and refactor around it
The code to ensure that an EVP_PKEY is exported to providers is
repeated all over the place, enough that copying it again has the
usual future hazards with code copying.

Instead, we refactor that code into one function,
evp_pkey_make_provided(), and make sure to use that everywhere.
It relies on the creation of EVP_PKEY_CTX to figure out facts about
the input key, should it need to.

Richard Levitte e4a1d02300 Modify EVP_CIPHER_is_a() and EVP_MD_is_a() to handle legacy methods too
These functions would only handle provided methods, but there are
cases where the caller just passes along a received method without
knowing the underlying method tech, so might pass along a legacy
method.  We therefore need to have them handle this case as well so
they don't cause any unnecessary surprises.

Richard Levitte e0d8523e80 EVP: If a key can't be exported to provider, fallback to legacy
Currently, the operations that do try to export a legacy key to
providers will fail if the export failed.  It makes more sense to
simply use the legacy method instead, as a fallback for things not
being implemented (yet) in a provider.
