Richard Levitte 5b0f1f7d13 Because libraries on Windows lack useful version information, the zlib 
guys had to change the name to differentiate with older versions when
a backward incompatibility came up.  Of course, we need to adapt.
This change simply tries to load the library through the newer name
(ZLIB1) first, and if that fails, it tries the good old ZLIB.

stateless variant is kept, but isn't used anywhere.

Richard Levitte e984b2af64 If we're loading libz dynamically, and COMP_zlib() is called more than once, 
only the first call would provide the correct result.

Richard Levitte bc36ee6227 Use new-style system-id macros everywhere possible. I hope I haven't 
missed any.

This compiles and runs on Linux, and external applications have no
problems with it.  The definite test will be to build this on VMS.

Richard Levitte 20f88b9bd4 Changes to c_zlib.c to make ZLIB.DLL dynamically loadable under 
Windows.  Really, this should probably be done on Unix as well, but
that will be a later story...
