Matt Caswell 7e1eda483e Fix a failure in sslapitest
The SNI test in test_cert_cb_int() was always failing because it used
SSL_CTX_new() instead of SSL_CTX_new_ex() and was therefore not using the
correct libctx. PR #17739 amended the test to check the return value from
SSL_CTX_new() which made the failure obvious.

John Baldwin e1fdd5262e Refactor KTLS tests to better support TLS 1.3.
- Use SSL_set_ciphersuites for TLS 1.3 tests instead of using
  SSL_set_cipher_list.

- Don't bother passing a sequence number size to KTLS test functions.
These functions always test TLS (and not DTLS) for which the
sequence size is always the same. In addition, even for DTLS the
check in question (verifying that the sequence number fields in SSL
do not change) should still pass when doing a before/after
  comparison of the field.

- Define a helper structure to hold the TLS version and cipher name
  for a single KTLS test.

- Define an array of such structures with valid KTLS ciphers and move
#ifdef's for TLS versions and supported ciphers out of test
functions and instead use them to define the valid members of this
array. This also permits using TLS 1.3 cipher suite names for
  TLS 1.3 tests.

- Use separate tests per cipher for test_ktls to give more
fine-grained pass/fail results as is already done for
  test_ktls_sendfile.

- While here, rename test_ktls_sendfile to execute_test_ktls_sendfile
and test_ktls_sendfile_anytls to test_ktls_sendfile. This is more
consistent with the naming used for test_ktls as well as other tests
  in this file.

- Close the file descriptors used for temporary sockets in ktls tests.

- Don't assume that KTLS is supported for all compile-time supported
cipher suites at runtime. If the kernel fails to offload a given
cipher suite, skip the test rather than failing it. FreeBSD kernels
may not offload all of the cipher suites supported by its KTLS if a
suitable driver or KTLS backend is not present.

Benjamin Kaduk 6dc56df26c Add extensive test coverage for SSL_get_negotiated_group()
This is nearly comprehensive, but we cannot exercise the functionality
for PSK-only TLS 1.3 resumption, since openssl talking to openssl will
always negotiate psk_dhe_ke.

Exercise both the TLS 1.3 and 1.2 cases, for initial handshakes
and resumptions, and for ECDHE and FFDHE.
Since RFC 7919 named groups (for FFDHE) are only supported for TLS 1.3,
the TLS 1.2 versions of those scenarios expect to get NID_undef since
the key exchange was not performed using a named group.

We don't implement RFC 7919 named groups for TLS 1.2, so we can

Interestingly, though the test_key_exchange() routine claimed to
be exercising ffdhe2048 with TLS 1.2, the configured ciphers were
incompatible with DHE key exchange, so we ended up just using RSA
key transport and not doing an ephemeral key exchange at all.
Reconfigure the tests to actually exercise ephemeral key exchange
for both the EC and FF cases (even though we don't use the named

Matt Caswell a3a54179b6 Only enable KTLS if it is explicitly configured
It has always been the case that KTLS is not compiled by default. However
if it is compiled then it was automatically used unless specifically
configured not to. This is problematic because it avoids any crypto
implementations from providers. A user who configures all crypto to use
the FIPS provider may unexpectedly find that TLS related crypto is actually
being performed outside of the FIPS boundary.

Instead we change KTLS so that it is disabled by default.

We also swap to using a single "option" (i.e. SSL_OP_ENABLE_KTLS) rather
than two separate "modes", (i.e. SSL_MODE_NO_KTLS_RX and
SSL_MODE_NO_KTLS_TX).

Dr. David von Oheimb 0c3eb2793b TLS client: allow cert verify callback return -1 for SSL_ERROR_WANT_RETRY_VERIFY
The client-side cert verification callback function may not only return
as usual for success or 0 for failure, but also -1,
typically on failure verifying the server certificate.
This makes the handshake suspend and return control to the calling application
with SSL_ERROR_WANT_RETRY_VERIFY.
The app can for instance fetch further certificates or cert status information
needed for the verification.
Calling SSL_connect() again resumes the connection attempt
by retrying the server certificate verification step.
This process may even be repeated if need be.

The core implementation of the feature is in ssl/statem/statem_clnt.c,
splitting tls_process_server_certificate() into a preparation step
that just copies the certificates received from the server to s->session->peer_chain
(rather than having them in a local variable at first) and returns to the state machine,
and a post-processing step in tls_post_process_server_certificate() that can be repeated:
Try verifying the current contents of s->session->peer_chain basically as before,
but give the verification callback function the chance to pause connecting and
make the TLS state machine later call tls_post_process_server_certificate() again.
Otherwise processing continues as usual.

The documentation of the new feature is added to SSL_CTX_set_cert_verify_callback.pod
and SSL_want.pod.

This adds two tests:
* A generic test in test/helpers/handshake.c
on the usability of the new server cert verification retry feature.
It is triggered via test/ssl-tests/03-custom_verify.cnf.in (while the bulky auto-
generated changes to test/ssl-tests/03-custom_verify.cnf can be basically ignored).
* A test in test/sslapitest.c that demonstrates the effectiveness of the approach
for augmenting the cert chain provided by the server in between SSL_connect() calls.

However, it can also be used in cases where there is an existing

one cipher to a different one (such as during renegotiation when the

to exercise such situations, allowing us to detect whether session

Matt Caswell 8d242823ed Fix common test framework options
PR#6975 added the ability to our test framework to have common options to
all tests. For example providing the option "-test 5" to one of our test
programs will just run test number 5. This can be useful when debugging
tests.

Unforuntately this does not work well for a number of tests. In particular
those tests that call test_get_argument() without first skipping over these
common test options will not get the expected value. Some tests did this
correctly but a large number did not.

A helper function is introduced, test_skip_common_options(), to make this
easier for those tests which do not have their own specialised test option
handling, but yet still need to call test_get_argument(). This function
call is then added to all those tests that need it.
